riverledge: #panasonic_viera_th_46pz85u THE CLARITY OF THE SINGLE PANEL OF GLASS IS AWESOME; THE SECOND PURPOSE FOR IS THE WEIGHT OF THE FINISHED PRODUCT.

Just IMAGINE shipping cost savings on the bottom line to PANASONIC and others.

MONEY FIRST; QUALITY SECOND!

Stepintothepain: #panasonic_viera_th_46pz85u The 1 pane of glass actually does have a benefit. When viewing the screen from an angle there is no haloing of white letters. On the older panasonics (i.e the PX75U) 2007 model if you look at the television from an angle you can see a halo effect on white letters, or non moving logos the three layers of glass cause this and it can be rather annoying. So it is not for "aesthetic" purposes. The one pane of glass is similar to the PIONEER Elites and Kuro. The XBR4 is a Liquid Crystal television and thus should not be compared to a plasma. Feb 19, 08
