Samsung PN50B530

$1,499.00 Released April, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Large size. Affordable price - can be found for much lower than the MSRP. Shares the same pros as most plasma displays - improved blacks over LCD, high refresh rate, rich colours, large size for the price.

The Cons:Same cons as most plasma displays - higher energy consumption, image retention (burn-in) and high glare. Previous generation panel - does not share the same energy efficiency gains as this years improved higher end models. Samsung plasma blacks aren't as nice as those from Panasonic or Pioneer.

The Samsung PN50B530 is a 16:9 aspect ratio, 50" widescreen plasma HDTV. It was released at the same time and is almost identical to the PN50B540, and the two have the same physical dimensions and suggested price.

Where to Buy

The only differences are that the PN50B530 does not have two of the 540's features, which are Samsung's "WideColor Enhancer2", which is supposed to allow selectable color settings, and a slightly easier to use HDMI interface to connect multiple HD devices to the TV. Aside from that, the two TVs have identical features. These include Samsung's e-panel glare reduction, better energy efficiency than previous models, and faster image processing when game mode is on. This TV has numerous video inputs and a dual-tuner for digital or standard signals.
